ABOUT AZCR

BUILDING A STRONG COMMUNITY

Large and small independent business owners throughout the metropolitan Phoenix area joined forces in 2003 under the name Arizona Chain Reaction, and we now represent businesses throughout Arizona.

Our common goal is twofold: To educate the public about the significant sales tax revenues that fill the bank accounts of a community and state where local businesses thrive. It is sales tax revenue that creates the quality of life in our community. Secondly, local businesses create a unique atmosphere that set Arizona apart from anytown USA.

Members of AZCR are your friends and your neighbors. Just like you, we pay the taxes that build the roads we travel on, the police and fire departments on which we depend, and the quality of education our children receive. We're the local business owners who call this community our home.

You will find these businesses featured on our web site, where you will discover what they do, their products and services, where they are located, and how to contact them. You can click on their name and be taken to their web site for more information.

COALITIONS ACROSS AMERICA

AZCR is only one of a rapidly growing number of now-established coalitions in cities all across America that are alarmed at the negative impact chain stores are having on their local economy. The mission is to educate consumers about the dramatic and measurable benefits that go hand-in-hand with shopping locally. We believe that once people understand how their community dollars are being exported to distant states, they will choose to support locally-owned businesses, where profits are reinvested within the community. Sales taxes fund the quality of life you have come to expect. Armed with the facts, permanent residents of Arizona will choose to protect and stimulate our local culture and growth.

Independent businesses also give our community unique character, encourage diversity, and bring creativity to our cultural landscape. For discriminating consumers, there is little attraction in patronizing homogenous chain stores.

AZCR's members are the independent businesses that appeal to customers who value choice, individuality and quality service more than the occasional discount that proves in time not to be a savings at all. Membership is open to businesses of all types and sizes that meet AZCR's membership criteria. We represent independent businesses throughout Arizona.

Arizona Chain Reaction was launched in March 2003 by founding members Kimber Lanning, owner of Stinkweeds New & Used Music in Tempe and Phoenix, and Modified Arts in Phoenix; Michael Monti, owner of Monti's La Casa Vieja restaurant in Tempe; and Cindy Dach, marketing manager of Changing Hands Bookstore in Tempe, and co-owner of Eye Lounge Art Gallery in Phoenix.
